Pushpanjali

Raga: Nattai

Tala: Adi

Composer:Traditional

Pushpanjali is the invocatory dance in a Bharatanatyam Arangetram. Pushpa means flower and Anjali means “offering with folded hands”. It is the salutation to the Lord of Dance, Nataraja, the Guru, the musicians, and the audience. Finally, the dancer seeks forgiveness from Mother Earth for dancing on her.
